Education

The Violence Research Initiative is devoted to educating the next generation of experts on violence by offering coursework on Interpersonal Violence and Violence Prevention, open to students foreign and domestic. Classes are interdisciplinary in nature and include guest lectures by experts working in their respective fields. Students will become familiar with:

(a) academic approaches to violence;
(b) the main methodologies, theories and assumptions that help us understand violence;
(c) the social factors that foster violence; and
(d) patterns of responses to acts of violence.

Training

Trainings for professionals focus on local governance on violence, crisis management, crisis communication and crisis prevention by offering data-driven insights into various forms of violent crime. Examples include trainings on managing societal responses to violence, preventing copycat behaviors, and communicating on violent events that have a potentially large financial and societal impact.
